Our renewing organic facial toners are made from organic hydrosols. Our hydrosols are the most genuine form of hydrosols, the plant material used is fresh, not dried or wilted. From our supplier “We are careful with each species and when it’s harvested to ensure we get the proper components and capture the cellular water of the plant too. As a strictly hydrosol distillery, we use only fresh plant material, which makes for a better end product, since we’re after the “waters” of the plant. Secondly, we use only copper alembic stills from Portugal. Often times, hydrosols are distilled in stainless steel equipment, which can leave a “still note” in the hydrosol. But copper facilitates a certain chemical reaction that not only affects the fragrance, but also adds a preservative effect.” The “waters” of the plant, also known as cellular water, is usually lost under the conventional high pressurized steam when using dried plant material. It is this cellular water, filled with nutritious minerals, antioxidants, and countless other natural botanical benefits, that gives the hydrosol the aromatic and therapeutic properties of the plant. These hydrosols contain small amounts of essential oil and the water-soluble components of the plant material that may not be present in the essential oil.
Hydrosols make fabulous facial toners. Why? When you wash your face with cold process soap (which is slightly alkaline) and following up with a hydrosol toner (which is slightly acidic) it gently helps rebalance the pH of the skin. Your skin's acid mantle is what keeps in moisture and blocks out toxins from the environment, so this is an important step in your skin care regimen.

Neroli hydrosol is made from orange blossoms - faintly sweet, floral, and citrusy. If you have oily skin, this is the perfect toner for you because it is deeply cleansing. Neroli hydrosol also contains alpha hydroxy acids which help exfoliate the skin, and is anti-inflammatory so helps soothe and calm skin inflammation like acne, eczema etc. It is also antibacterial, which is another reason it's great for treating acne, plus is highly astringent, as well as rich in vitamin C.

Bugarian Rose Otto Hydrosol is very hydrating. It nourishes skin health, restores skin's radiance, beauty and youthfulness. Rose hydrosol also helps to balance the skin as it regulates sebum production, has antibacterial properties, helps heal sunburn and improves circulation. It is also a mild astringent, and attracts moisture making it very helpful for all skin types. With it's light floral scent and vast number of therapeutic applications, this product from organic roses rejuvenates, hydrates, softens, and if used over time, can help reduce facial lines and wrinkles. This Damascena Rose Hydrosol may also be known as Rose Distillate and possesses a beautiful sweet, rosy aroma that captures the rich and heady aroma of fresh rose blooms. It is well-known for its skin care benefits as well as for helping to balance the endocrine system. Suzanne Catty, author of Hydrosols: The Next Aromatherapy, states that rose has an affinity with the heart and the emotional spheres of the mind, body, and spirit. It is known to promote emotional balance and a sense of well-being.
Rose Hydrosol is often referred to as Rosewater or Rose Floral Water but is actually a different product. Where Rose Hydrosol is the distillation of rose essential oil made with fresh-picked fresh rose petals and contains the essence of the plant in every drop. A flower water or rosewater, by contrast, is water that has been scented using essential oils. In addition, rose water will typically have additives that rose hydrosol will not.

To use, spritz on freshly cleaned skin and immediately follow with a moisturizer like our Organic Moroccan Argan Oil. The oil will lock in the moisturizing hydrosol, leaving your skin soft and glowing.

Please note: If you are not familiar with natural hydrosols, these are purchased in small quantities and kept refrigerated so they are kept fresh. We may run out at times, but that is just the nature of a natural hydrosol without any preservatives, and the benefits to your skin are worth it!

Bulgarian rose hydrosol toner
5 Stars

Love this. Feels great and makes the jojoba oil I use for moisture go on so nicely. I also use on sunburn as it is so cooling. I've used the neroli in the past and love that earthly citrus scent as well.

Undecided

I can't decide what I think about this product. I don't detect much, if any, rose scent which is quite disappointing. I had been using a Bulgarian rose toner from another natural face care company prior to this, and it had a wonderfully strong scent with no acidic smell at all. But I'm interested in Natalie's claim that these hydrosols are supposed to smell acidic...so, I guess I just need to do a little more research!

Part of my daily routine!
5 Stars

I love spraying these on right after I get out of the shower, (after using my antioxidant beauty bar, of course!) and then following up with jojoba oil at night and argan oil in the morning! A must have in your daily beauty regimen!

One of my favorite products!
5 Stars

I love this little spritz after washing my face with the antioxidant face bar. It's refreshing and it helps the argan oil go on my face without any drag.

Very refreshing...

My face always thanks me for remembering a couple spritzes of my AVNS rose toner!

nice toners

I tried the rose and the neroli and I like them both. They are refreshing but I couldn't detect much scent. It was very cold when I received them so maybe they froze somewhere along the way.

Whoa to the smell
5 Stars

I'm glad I read all of the product description before buying the Neroli toner. Being new to the natural hydrosols I was prepared for a "somewhat odd" after-scent. Ha Ha. I wouldn't say the smell is pleasant for me. It's a strong floral scent which makes me hold my breathe for just a second after a spritz. That being said it's still a 5 star product! I use it just before the argan oil and it does help the oil sink into your skin faster. I love it (smell and all). :)

Great as a toner or a refresher throughout the day!!

I love the facial toners and use them each morning. Also, I bring on trips or when I think I will be sweaty during the day - they really refresh your face and make you feel clean and ready to go!!
